Make dinner

    Heat the oven to 400°F. Toss potatoes with cream, garlic, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and black pepper in a greased baking dish.

    Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover, top with Gruyere, and add sausages to a second small roasting pan.

    Bake both until the potatoes are tender and browned and sausages are hot, 18 to 22 minutes.

    Warm the sauerkraut and serve it with the sausages and gratin.
