Make dinner

  1. 01

Heat the oven to 425°F. Boil the pasta in salted water for 2 minutes less than the package directs; drain.

  2. 02

Stir the ricotta, egg, Italian seasoning, spinach, half the mozzarella, and half the Parmesan in a large bowl.

  3. 03

Toss the pasta with marinara, then fold in the ricotta mixture. Transfer to a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.

  4. 04

Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan. Bake until bubbling and browned, 18 to 22 minutes. Rest for 5 minutes.

Useful swaps

  • Use thawed frozen spinach squeezed dry instead of fresh.
  • Gluten-free penne works with the same assembly.

Why this is a good weeknight call

The ingredient list stays focused, and the recipe has a clear stopping point instead of extra optional projects.
